What resources does BWE provide so far?
STEMpathy Challenge Lesson Plans
The Classroom Relevance-ifier (Weave Stories With Academic Objectives)
Rigid academic standards and core curriculums run the world. So we build friendly 1-Page narrative lesson plans (look to the left, to the left) about each story that help you engage your class and meet your academic goals.
STEMpathy Challenge Stories
The Curiosity Feeder (Begin to Understand)
We'll find written stories (3-6 per video; example linked to the right) about the person we've observed in the video. Here we can challenge our assumptions. And we can begin to further understand this person's unique perspective.
STEMpathy Challenge Videos
The Curiosity Sparker (Desire Understanding)
In the "Classroom Content" tab, we'll find globally adaptable videos of incredible people. We identify people we profile through social enterprise partnerships, and we focus on people in diverse roles of the ecosystem.
Global Literacy Resources
The Zoom Out (Learn About The Ecosystem)
In the "Global Literacy Deep Dives" tab, we'll find:
1) curated videos and quick quizzes;
2) big thematic questions, ideas, and mini social enterprise case studies to guide exploration, discussion, and action steps;
3) an overview of the core purpose of each topic and the interconnections between topics and Empathy Challenges.
These are great resources to leverage when looking to learn more about the bigger picture topics after engaging in Empathy Challenges. And when looking to start taking action in a way beyond the classroom learning. To support us in starting out effectively with the ecosystem in mind and heart all steps of the way.
How can we implement these resources in our classrooms today?
There are so many ways educators are using these resources in their classrooms. We encourage you to browse around the spreadsheet that we share once you sign up on the site -- this spreadsheet has a ton of resources to expand on those shared in the "Empathy Challenge Kits" section of this site. We're also beginning to put together videos showcasing different use cases. Here's an example (http://vimeo.com/244936663), and there are more to come!
